WISHING YOU A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

RECOGNIZING CAREGIVERS

STIRLINGSHIRE IS HERE TO SUPPORT CAREGIVERS WHO COULD USE EXTRA SUPPORT

WRITTEN BY KARI SANTOS, ACTIVITY DIRECTOR

January is a time when we can finally stop to catch our breath. The holiday rush is ending. The sun lasts a little longer now, but the cold and snow are more prevalent. Many people report having the winter blues. January is an important time to take care of ourselves. It starts a new year, and with new year comes new goals, hopes, dreams, and wishes. My wish for you is that you take some time this year to do the activities that bring you joy and happiness. I also think about our caregivers at this time. They too are recovering from the holiday stress. If you are a caregiver or know a caregiver who could use some extra support this time of year, please reach out to us at Stirlingshire of Coralville. We have a team of experts here to help you through this journey. We love giving our caregivers a moment to take care of themselves.

GREETINGS FROM MARTY

GUEST COLUMN, ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DIRECTOR

This time of year it is important to remind everyone about winter safety items. If you have a dog, please be careful walking outside. Look for any icy spots that could be slippery. Our grounds team does an amazing job. I still want you to be alert in case a spot is missed. I want you and your dogs to be safe this winter.

Please remember to give the reception desk your drives and appointments at least 48 hours in advance. We understand that things come up last minute. If we can plan ahead of time, we can make sure we can give you the Stirlingshire treatment.

You can call the reception desk at 319-338-8100. Or email: jennifer.westcott@fairview.org orcindi.atkinson@fairview.org. Feel free to stop by and say hello in person. If the weather is severe we will speak to you in person to decide our course of action. Please allow flexibility for activity drives, as they are also impacted by bad weather.

For anyone who has lived in a new home, they know in the first winter the building settles. While this is happening if you discover anything that needs adjustment please let me know.
